About Me: I like: hiking and camping, driving, writing poetry, movies, coffee, reading, volleyball, lifting weights, boxing, discussing (i.e. politics, religion, philosophy, existential issues, social issues, etc.), rockclimbing, ultimate frisbee, there's more, but I have to stop somewhere. I dislike: people who are rude or conceited; people who think it's funny to make fun of other people or bully them; traffic; ...you know what, I pretty much find the same things annoying and disdainful that most people do. So let's skip this part, too. How I would describe my personality? With an effort to avoid the BS, I would call myself malleable; that is, if I get into a situation that requires me to talk a lot, I can; but I like my quiet time, too. I can be aggressive, or I can be absolutely sweet. Basically, I can be whatever I need to be, whether it is being level-headed, being supportive, being critical, being helpful, being the asshole (hey, sometimes you gotta, ya know, but it's really hard for me to put my foot down) but above all, I am *grounded*; that is, I am definitely down to earth. To make this point more clear, I was at a restaurant once, writing poetry and eating dinner, when a woman I had never met before in my life walks over to my table and asks me if she can sit down and talk to me about a problem that her friend is having. Rather than act all weird about it ("Who the hell is this woman and why the hell does she want to talk to me?! What a weirdo!!"), I said," Sure, have yourself a seat", and I proceeded to talk to this woman about her friend's problem as if I'd known her for years. I understand that some people are insecure and afraid to be themselves; this doesn't exclude me, but I try my best to just be me, and that's pretty much all I ask for in return. I recently graduated college (with an Army commission as a 2nd Lieutenant) and am headed to graduate school for my Ph.D
