About Me: I am what some people call a wordy person. I like to cook, BBQ, listen to lots of music, laugh a lot, make bad jokes, yet still make friends and acquaintances laugh. There are some hilarious comments on sites like this, "Mae West once said that brains in a woman are an asset as long as she hides them." For me it's different, an exposed brain and heart is as attractive as exposed skin. And Mae West's comment is double edged too. I am particularly fond of music from New Orleans and Austin, where r&b, jazz, country and western, gospel, funk and folk are combined to make a unique sound. I dance to Salsa, Cajun, Creole and Zydeco music, where you mix 2-step and jitterbug together. Same for swing and most Latin and Gypsy music. If you know what kpig, wwoz, kalw, kpfa, krvs and bbc spanish are, you have some idea of what my music and public affairs tastes are. I've been down to the South a lot and find it enlightening and educational, but unfortunately racist to a degree that undercuts the good parts. I am however a California guy, but just not a surfer. However I like watching surfing on TV and feeling in person the rumbling ground at the Bonzai pipeline, on the North shore of Ohau. Hawaii is a great place and the only other place I'd consider living, but I don't discount Tuscany either. But wait there's more... I am a long time human rights and public transit trade union activist, with a strong interest in the arts and particularly writing (advocacy journalism, fiction, film, non-fiction). I work personally with friends, acquaintances and relatives to resolve employment and discrimination problems. It's hard at times, but I've wanted to do it since I was a . I'm good at it, but like you or me, there's always room for growth. I have known the support and gratefulness of people I have helped. And I have a stock pile of political jokes and stories too.
